  1. 1. July 20th, 1969, marked a monumental moment in space exploration when the Apollo 11 mission successfully landed the first humans on the Moon. Astronaut Neil Armstrong took his historic first steps on the lunar surface, uttering the famous words, "That's one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind."
